The Gene Davenport Memorial was established in 2017 by Kenny Davie and Ellen, Dale, and Adam Schwoebel to honor their friend, William "Gene" Davenport. Funds are raised through our annual golf outing that is held at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course in Cape Girardeau, MO on the second Saturday of September. Each year, all funds raised are donated to the Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri. Special Olympics uses the money raised to cover competition fees, buy new equipment and uniforms and provide travel to and from events. In the nine years since the Gene Davenport Memorial has been established, over $64,500 has been donated.
